DMP Tool v5.54 Release Notes

We’ve just released an update to the DMP Tool. While mostly minor or behind the scenes updates that we don’t expect users to notice, there were a couple important changes to DMP exports based on feedback that we wanted to make people aware of.

  • Fixed an issue where PDF exports that were intended to be size 11 were being exported smaller than size 11, causing rejections from some funders running automated formatting checks for size 11+ text.  Note that this may make PDF exports longer than before, so plan writers should be aware and consider if they need to reduce their text or remove question text in order to keep to the 2 page requirement of many funders.  Also note that for existing plans, there will need to be some change to the text saved in order for it to generate a new PDF and use the new system.
  • Fixed an issue where DOCX exports were coming in at size 8, when most funders expect size 11.  The new default is size 11 text. There are still some known issues that some parts of formatting, like font color and non-default size, are not exported properly to DOCX downloads.
  • Fixed an issue with being unable to make some plans public if conditional logic of the underlying template meant that they had not answered 50% of the total number of questions.  Visibility setting should now check against having answered 50% of displayed questions rather than 50% of the total questions on the template.
  • Upgraded to Ruby v3.4 and Node.js v22.

If you experience any new issues, please report them by emailing dmptool@ucop.edu.

As we’ve stated before, we are not making significant updates to the tool at this time so that we can focus development work on our rebuild. However, we want to make sure the site remains up to date and usable, which is why we will address major issues that get in the way of core functionality, such as exporting DMPs as PDFs.
